Book Review of “Reinvent Down Under” by Gunnar Habitz
How to Reinvent Your Next Chapter
Reinvent Down Under is a practical guide to navigating life’s major transitions, using a decade of lessons from moving across the world, rebuilding a career and creating a new sense of belonging.
In May 2016, I arrived in Sydney with a large suitcases and a resume that made sense somewhere else. Like many people starting over, I had a plan. What I didn’t have was certainty.
Over the following ten years, Australia became much more than a new home. It became a laboratory for change. Along the way I experienced career transitions, corporate layoffs, consulting assignments, volunteer leadership roles, startup communities, Board positions, new friendships and countless conversations that challenged my assumptions about success, belonging and identity.
When people hear the title of my latest book, Reinvent Down Under, they often assume it is about migration with checklists and prompts for the practical side of moving into the South Pacific. In reality, it is a book about transformation.
Moving countries is simply one example of reinvention. The same principles apply when changing careers, rebuilding after a setback, starting a business, ending a relationship, or entering a new stage of life.
